Day 20 — Eat Fewer Calories Without Counting Calories

February 26, 2020 By Deepak Kevat

Hello friends. Welcome back to day 20. Yesterday we discussed about calorie counting.

Even many people say it’s the best strategy, but it’s a complex task. You might try to be perfect but will never reach near to it.

It won’t provide any benefits instead add stress. It’s not what you should worry about. At least for now. Or maybe in future.

The heading may be — “cut calories intake”, but it’s not about restriction. You and it’s even me, have to deal with a lot of a daily task and day-to-day activities.

In such a busy schedule, no one would have time to follow strict calorie counting routine. In earlier video I have discussed the issue with calorie counting, so I won’t go over there. But by the end of the video, you will know what’s important and what to ignore.

So let’s start with — what essential for you, your health and also for your weight management goal.

It’s, Healthy relationship with food…

Stronger the relationship you build with food — easier it will be to manage every fitness and health related goal.

We always blame calories. And to cut them from diet, there is a good deal of hustle. New diet, new strategy, we make sacrifices — just to cut calories from diet.

But during this effort demanding task, one forget about building healthier relationships with food. It’s the core or say the foundation, as food is the foundation of our health and well-being.

If you don’t have a good relationship with the source of life, then how your life will be good. Your relationship suffers, so your body and finally you.

But what does a healthy relationship with food mean?

  • You enjoy instead of feeling guilty for eating
  • You know what you need and how much
  • You look for nourishment instead of just eating
  • You don’t feel scared, when you hear about food or demoralise food
  • You know that every health and fitness goal is achievable with food

Whatever may be your goal — better health or weight loss; you can achieve with the healthy eating approach.

Food quality and nutrient intake increase when a diet comprises;

  • Major portions of vegetables
  • Beans,
  • Moderate portions of fruits,
  • Whole-grains,
  • Lean protein and good fat.

By adding these foods — your calorie intake will lower without trying.

Eat Fewer Calories Without Painstaking Effort

Eating fewer calories is a common recommendation to lose weight or improve health. The calorie is always an interesting topic. It can affect goals — positivity or negatively, depending on its usage.

Let us discuss the true meaning of a fewer calorie.

From the past few decades, people have become obsessed with calories. They started to cut calories from their diet to lose weight, look great and improve health. Whatever may be the intention our body doesn’t work on a few assumptions.

Weight loss can cut the risk of the health problem, but every weight loss strategy doesn’t benefit, as we intend.

In a 12 year study on people aged over 71, considering quick weight loss found an interesting result.

The risk of dying increased by;

  • 38 percent in women
  • 76 percent in men

That’s a big bet, just to lose weight.

Major people adopt a diet they don’t enjoy. During their journey, few continue instead of hardship, while major quit as they aren’t able to handle the stress.

Calories are blamed for weight gain but they aren’t the real problem. The actual culprit to blame is — excess and unhealthy food choice.

Longest living people in the Blue Zone eat more food but consume several hundred fewer calories because of their food choice

You can eat a large size of vegetables and fruit for fewer calories than a small pack of chips.

Vegetables and fruits supply health-boosting nutrients, satiety for a long with low calorie.

Chips supply a lot of calories without satiety. One can overeat and still face hunger pang.

You can save a lot of calories without compromising nutrition intake with healthier options.

Also, you get more of

  • health-boosting antioxidants,
  • fiber,
  • anti-inflammatory compounds,
  • filling nutrients like protein and fat.

Major processed food doesn’t have real nutritional value. They are loaded with calories, more than we want.

You can switch to healthier and low-caloire food.

Healthier And Low-calorie Food

  1. Fruit salad instead of a slice of chocolate cheesecake.
  2. Grilled vegetables instead of chips.
  3. Frozen fruit instead of sweets.
  4. Add nuts and fruit to porridge instead of sugar.
  5. Lemon water over sugary drinks.

You can try such healthier combinations whenever possible.

The advice, “Eat fewer calories”, is to guide you to eat more of healthier food, rich in nutrients but low in unwanted calories. It advises to eat the required calories instead of completely quitting.

Stop obsession with calorie restriction.

There are many low-calorie diets based on a few scientific evidence, but calorie below the need isn’t proved beneficial in the long term.

Instead of cutting calories, divert focus on eating healthy and unprocessed foods. Your calorie intake will lower without even trying anything.

That’s all for today. Tomorrow is a rest day, but we will discuss the ways to bring fun in your routine.
