Day 11 – Diet and Their Drawbacks | Facts Everyone Hiding

February 26, 2020 By Deepak Kevat

Hello friends. Welcome back to Day 11. Today you’ll learn about the most important topic.

Diet…

You might be thinking that, if it’s the most important topic then why I waited for long.

Surely, diet is an important topic. I have positioned every content properly. I am talking about diet not because of its benefits, but because of its popularity.

It’s considered as the most important thing in the world of fitness and health.

Whenever one plan to lose weight or improve health — they will come across one suggestion, diet.

There are lots of diet and still new diet will come with passing months.

Some diet will stay while others will fade away. It depends on marketing.

Often, if you look at diet…

Faster the result, popular is the diet. Many get results but at the cost of their health and wellbeing.

I’m saying this because there are many setbacks with major of strict or fad diet. They promise to give results but take away a lot.

Common negative effects of diet may be

  1. You will feel dehydrated
  2. You will get tired easily
  3. Suffer a risk of malnutrition
  4. Disturbed metabolism and hormones
  5. Increased health risks
  6. Muscle loss

Few get results and it’s shown as a proof that the diet works. But what happens after that? Know one knows.

It has been found that people who lose weight with such diets gain major or more weight within 5 years. During this long time gap, no one will find the reason. Whether it was diet or something else.

We won’t have the idea and left clueless.

What will happen next…

After struggling for a long period, one would barely take effort to make any changes. It’s not a good thing.

But, you’re at the right place. And the purpose of the content is to give you an overall idea to make better changes in your life.

My goal is — you get the benefits and it should keep you benefiting in coming 5, 10, 20, 40 and more years. And that too with the least effort.

Before exploring the best practice, let’s explore common diet and the reason to avoid such drastic changes.

A change that challenges you mentally and physically is the worst option to choose. It’s the worst thing you would do to your body.

To know why, let’s get started with diet.

1. Compensation Diet

The first one is, compensation diet. It’s not an actual diet but one of the common practice.

The diet stands to its name — compensation. Compensate one meal for other. Same thing happens with other routine.

Suppose one eats more than they planned, they will avoid next meal.

It happens during a party. It’s common that one won’t eat so they can eat at a party, just to balance calorie intake. Or suppose they overate, they will go hard on themselves by pushing hard in their fitness routine.

While major people in the guilt feeling don’t even enjoy the food.

One should avoid such strict punishment on oneself. Food or other occasions should be enjoyed. Suppose you over-ate in the party, don’t worry, continue with normal routine.

One day changes won’t ruin your goal. But stressing over it, will.

2. Detox Diet

Our body has the most advanced system to handle detoxification. You don’t need any strict routine.

Detox diet, detox products and detox strategies are the biggest fad. One shouldn’t attempt to make such harsh changes even though the routine last for a week.

Our body is smart enough to handle it without our technical interference. It just needs healthy nutrition and lifestyle.

If you look at the detox diet, it’s just for a few days. If we really need such a life-saving strategy, then why do we need it for a few days?

The answer may be unpleasant — our body can’t handle such drastic changes for long. Few days it will struggle but will try to keep balance.

By the end of the routine, body will lose it’s ability to function properly.

There are many flaws, but as a marketing point of view — no one will highlight the flaw.

We daily produce toxin and body removes it. Then why to follow a strict routine to detox. And also disturb the body’s natural function.

Trust you liver and trust your body. It’s was always there will be there to simplify your life.

Don’t fall in the trap of marketing.

3. Low Calorie or Low Carbohydrate

Set war against calories.

It’s a popular approach followed these days. People are getting in fight to cut their calorie — the source of energy.

How can we win a fight against the thing’s body wants to keep us alive?

There are many hypotheses and diets that promote — low calorie, low carbohydrate, or cutting other sources of energy.

They might present you the result. The flaw is that those studies have few years of data. But no one knows the extreme drawback of low calorie in long term.

Recent studies highlight that the low-calorie diet “the diet those promoted” can increase the risk of heart disease. Since such health conditions arise in a later part of life, no one ever doubts such practice.

My tip to you…

Enjoy carb and calorie. With this statement, I don’t mean over-depend on them. Have a balanced meal.

To know the actual math — notice how you look, feel and perform. Your body will give you sign and you should trust it.

I can give you a rough estimation with my knowledge accumulated in last 6 years. But your body is your personal guide, have trust in it.

4. Paleo Diet

Read a blog on a Paleo diet and got excited to try it?

But wait…

Our hunger to know more will lead to book. After reading the book you will be convinced.

The book highlighted lots of evidence listing how Paleolithic people ate and the benefits they gained.

But wait for a second before those material convince you.

Even I was convinced, but, everything that look great may be buttered up.

While going through the research I bumped to a TedTalk by an archeologist Christina Warinner studying on Paleolithic people’s life.

A Paleo diet promotes food like animal product, vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds. It recommends to avoid grains.

According to evidence, Palaeolithic people eating preferences changed with time and region. They ate every thing those were available. Also, the food promoted in the paleo diet didn’t exist earlier.

While the good thing — Paleo diet did is that they promoted naturally available food. Cutting processed food cuts major headaches.

But that doesn’t mean you should ban healthy grain and beans.

Suppose many studies say excess grain leads to health problem, then instead of completely quitting, limit it. Moderation should be with every food, even it may be proven the healthiest.

5. Ketogenic Diet

Ketogenic diet is the most popular diet.

It’s most beneficial diet. Tested and proven.

Try to sell books on this diet, you will surely sale lot with least effort.

Yes! It’s popular and well marketed. It will take least effort to convince one to follow.

If it’s healthy then why it’s in the list.

I’m not saying it’s the worst diet. But the first question rise. Do you need a ketogenic diet?

Ketogenic diet is a nutritional plan.

  • To lower epilepsy seizure
  • later it was used for people with neurodegenerative disorder
  • and also people with Traumatic brain injury from explosion

It’s a nutritional plan followed under expert for an extreme condition.

So before following keto diet ask a question.

Do I really need diet just to lose weight?

If you still want to try, you can keep your fat intake to 30 percent. Also add carbohydrates with a low glycemic index.

You should take care while making any changes. Notice every change. Every small change that you may feel new. Don’t go extreme. While you can be perfectly fit and healthy without a keto diet. Also consult a dietician who is well aware of a ketogenic diet.

I can’t leave without concluding…

You don’t need any strict or promising diet. You need a nutritional plan that nourish you and look at your goal. It should simplify your life rather than making it worse.

When you nourish yourself with healthy food and enjoy the process — it will be the perfect diet.

That all for today. When we’re talking about nourishment, then how can we miss supplement. So it’s the topic for tomorrow.
